The Author - Dr. Oluyinka Esan, PhD

Dr. Oluyinka Esan is a Senior Lecturer and currently program leader for the B. A. Media Studies at the University College Winchester, UK.

She maintains an interest in the impact of the media on society particularly from a developmental perspective. Her work has focused on the social relevance of media messages. This includes research into audience reception of media messages especially by crucial audience segments such as women and children; studies on production practices; and advocacy on Child Rights and health issues.

She also has an interesting portfolio of consultancy experience in the area of advocacy, and behavior change communication working with UNICEF and other UN agencies, international bodies, and local NGO's in Nigeria, where she also lectured at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos.

She holds a Masters in Radio TV from Ohio University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Glasgow.
