Chapter 1 -School Begins

Image: Page 1Mr. Johnson went up the twisting stairs into Adam’s room. He said, “Adam, Adam get ready for school.”

“Do I have to?” Adam groaned.

“Adam wake up, it’s your first day of school this quarter.” Mr. Johnson said to Adam. “You know the tradition. Get up extra - ”

“I know dad ” Adam interrupted.

“Get up extra early, this is the first day of school” Mr. Johnson advised sounding a bit disappointed.

Mr. Johnson walked out of the room. A few minutes later, he walked back in and said, “Please, get ready quickly, I have a surprise for you!” Mr. Johnson said.

“Dad, I’m ready,” Adam said fully woken up some ten minutes later.

“I have a solution to your problem of going to school without your mother! Your mom is going to be your science and math teacher” Mr. Johnson said proudly to Adam.

“Dad, that was when I was 5” I said annoyed

“Is it you that is telling the good news?” Dad said madly.

“No you are.” Adam said feeling ashamed.

“Anyway, your mom is your teacher for your favorite subjects!” Dad repeated proudly to Adam.

‘What will Jamie and Alex say?’ Adam thought. When Adam got to school, he heard what he expected (He expected rumors). Image: Page 3

Alex came to him and said, “ I heard the news that your mom is a new teacher. I can’t wait to see which subjects she will teach.” Alex said having an excited tone in his voice.

“She will teach science and math,” Adam stated like he knew everything.

“Hey, Adam” Mark called “Get to class, mom said we’re in daycare.

“Ok, Mark” Adam said

“Adam, I have to show you something at free time today.” Mark said starting to walk to the principals’ office. “ The deal we got is so cool.”

“I’ll meet you in the gym” Adam said just as Mark rounded the corner.

That’s Adam’s part of the story. Just wait ‘till you hear his sisters.

‘Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong ding dong’ tolls the bell “ Come on, Allison. One more toll and we’ll be late like last year” said Courtney worriedly.

“Go on, I’ll be right there in a second,” said Allison dreamily.

“Ok, if you say so.” Courtney said.

“Grades 6a and 7a line up in single file in front of the auditorium,” yelled Mr. Robin, the vice-principal, into his megaphone.

“Come on, Allison” Courtney yells as she shakes Allison.

“Now children come this way, please,” said Mr. Robin. “Now I will give the group leader a stack of schedules. Take one and pass them down,” said Mr. Robin.

‘Snap, snap, snap’ “Snap out of it, Allison” said Courtney trying to wake her up.

“He’s so-o-o-o cute!” Allison repeated over and over as Courtney pulled Alison into poetry class.

After everyone was in the class, a teacher that looked no more than twenty said, “ Good morning class, my name is Mrs. Amy, I will be your teacher for everything but chemistry this year.” Image: Page 6

“Good morning, Mrs. Amy.” echoed the class.

“Here is our class leader. He is Charlie Jackson” Mrs. Amy announced

Now Courtney knew whom Allison was drooling over. A boy with blonde hair and baby blue eyes walked up from the back of the room.

“Charlie, can you tell the class a little about yourself.” Mrs. Amy asked

“My name is Charlie. I am 11 years old. My favorite color is aquamarine. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a bluish green color. I can’t tell you more because I’m having a contest of who has the same descriptions as me, I asked for the principal’s permission and he said yes.” Charlie said happily

Mrs. Amy started to hand out supplies. “Allison Hawk, please come and get your supplies.” next she called Courtney Johnson.

At West High, Ashley and Katie walked to their next class, Ashley asked, “Wendy, do you like Mrs. Jackie?”

“Yeah, she’s real nice and she’s already scheduled a field trip to the Somerset Mall. She schedules field trips every month. She also gives students more special time.” Image: Page 9

“Please go to the auditorium immediately.” Principal Tiffany announced through the microphone. Mrs. Tiffany had long, blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes.

“Come on, Ashley we have to hurry there to vote.” Katie said tugging Ashley into the auditorium.

“What vote?” asked Ashley

“The Food Vote” Katie said as she was running to the auditorium. “You will find out the rest later.”

“What other votes are there?” Ashley asked.

“You’ll see” Katie said mysteriously.

“But--” Ashley started.

“But nothing, you will find out soon.” Katie said acting like a mother.
